The Maxwell Football Club was founded by Bert Bell then owner of the Philadelphia Eagles and later commissioner of the National Football League.
Originally the club was made up of referees, owners, coaches and the public that got together to discuss the previous weekends games and to honor the top high school and college players.
2015. Now in its 78th year, 2,000 people attended the MFC Awards show at the Tropicana Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ on March 13th. This year the top college award went to Marcus Mariota, quarterback for the Oregon Ducks.
AVT Creative Services was responsible for the production side of the show. That meant an entire day of setup inside the Tropicana’s Theater with miles of cable runs, three projection screen feeds for video package playback to the in-house audience and hundreds of connections. All of this connectivity was thought out in advance by the AVT Creative Services crew through creation of engineering drawings to get it right on paper first.
The 5 camera shoot which consisted of 2 scaffold operated cameras, a Jib camera, a Steadicam and a shoulder cam. Two TriCasters were used, one to provide all in-house video and music clips featured during the 2 hours ceremony in the theater. The second TriCaster was used to capture the show live-to-tape for airing in 42 major markets through Tribune Media.
The show was hosted by ESPN’s Susie Colbert and Lou Tilley.
